A word on Pina Bausch. Saw Wim Wenders’ Pina in 3D over the weekend. I knew it was going to be special, and it was a revelation indeed. I felt as though this was not only the first time the 3D format was used effectively, essentially putting you amidst the dancers on stage, but it was able to conjure up the same emotion as seeing one of her live performances. Each Pina piece is a direct channel to the physical artistic embodiment of eroticism, love, loss and pain. Costume, location, art direction: all divine perfection. If you wish to see true artistic genius, see this film in the theatre while you can.
